Say Psych: Track Review: Straylings – Warm Ambition

Rating: 7/10

London duo Straylings have released a video for ‘Warm Ambition’ this week. It’s the second teaser track, following the release of the single ‘Umpteenth’ in November 2017, taken from their forthcoming second album Wild Medicine scheduled for release on 23rd February.

Straylings are ex-The Veils Oliver Drake on guitars and synth and Bahrain born Dana Zeera on piano, vocals and rhythm guitar. Together they make sultry, brooding indie-rock with psychedelic fuzzed-up guitar. Their debut album Entertainment On Foreign Grounds was released in 2012 and so this second LP is hotly anticipated.

‘Warm Ambition’ features a bouncing rhythm section to set the scene before Kate Bush-esq lyrics dominate with reverb drenched guitar riffs hypnotizing. This track traverses numerous genres and will appeal to many.
