See: Baby Vanga release new video for Electric Air

You immediately know when you hear a band got together over a mutual appreciation of psychedelic jazz and Latin funk that you need to investigate further, and Baby Vanga peeked our interest completely. Not just ours, though because the band have signed to South Coast tastemakers Strong Island Records, and have released a new video for their latest single ‘Electric Air’’.

Of the track, the band say ‘Electric Air’ is a brief exploration into the endless journey of finding purpose within actions, yet being aware of the beauty in the actions themselves. Reflecting this is the insecure effect of the odd time enclosed by entwining genres, that’s contrasted by lighthearted melodies and the overall optimism the song tries to illustrate. It was written and recorded at my home studio in South London, where various iterations of the song were probed, leading to the final version that’ll hopefully fill your ears with delight.”

Electric Air is this organ and flute enthused psychedelic pop gem, complete with off kilter melodies and unexpected changes. There’s a warmth and a joy about the track, as it swirls and saunters, landing somewhere between lounge, funk indie and Latin. Plus, it’s damn gorgeous.
