See: C Duncan brings the hymnal delicacy of ‘The Wedding Song’ to end the year – watch the animated lyric video

DELICATE Glaswegian songsmith C Duncan has doubled down on the glitter of last month’s single, “Alluvium”, with just one more song to round off the year and to keep you abreast of happenings connected with his next album, due in the new year on Bella Union. The track is called “The Wedding Song” and it’s romantic, requires a room festooned with candlelight; is hymnal and gossamer in a Sufjan vein. It also features his classically trained parents on strings. Sweet.

It comes with a quite gorgeous, animated lyric video that you can watch below, with Duncan’s lovely imagery. There’s a second career in film waiting for someone with those visual arts skills.

Duncan says: “’The Wedding Song’ is a love song. It’s about contentment and being grateful for what we have, and what we share with one another. Unity is greater than any grand gesture.”

C Duncan will be playing out in London this weekend, so if you’re within reach, get yourself down to Upper Street in Islington; he’s on the bill for Bella Union’s Winter Wonderland concert at the Union Chapel alongside labelmates Deep Throat Choir and Laura Groves. Tickets are available here.

Duncan’s been changing up his life recently, with a move to Helensburgh in the past two years bringing a beneficial new direction. He’s put together his new record here by the Clyde waterside in his home studio, writing, recording and producing himself.

“It’s a very inspiring place to work,” he says, “and I wanted to return to recording from home as it gives me time and space to develop songs without any outside pressure. I feel very comfortable working alone.”
