See: Covet release new video for Parachute

Out on June 5th via Triple Crown Records is the new long player from Bay Area instrumental prog-pop/rock band Covet – aka Yvette Young (guitar), David Adamiak on bass and drummer Forrest Rice. For the first time the band have broken the mould and included lyrics in new a new track to be taken from the album – Parachute, provided by Young.

“This track, ‘parachute,’ is really special to me,” explains Yvette. “I remember I wrote it basically in one sitting and immediately I heard that it needed lyrics. My whole rule for writing is to never rule anything out, as long as it serves the music… so here we are, at Covet’s first departure from being instrumental. The song is about taking a risk for yourself and stepping away from something or something that once made you feel safe, only to realise that you never needed any of it in the first place. We hope you enjoy it and that it uplifts you.”

It’s this sort of bubbling indie pop/rock number, with all the prop-pop noodling that you normally associate with the band, dreamy guitar solos and spidery bass lines crawl across it, but Young’s voice is so, frankly, lovely you wonder why it’s taken them so long to utilise it.
