SEE: Dope Body – ‘Known Unknown’: gloriously messy highlight from ‘Crack A Light’ gets visuals

NEED a big, dirty, cathartic winter lift? No need to dial. Doctor Dope Body has just the prescription for you.

They’ve pulled what’s arguably the standout track from their most recent album, Crack A Light, “Known Unknown” – and given it some righteous visuals.

The track? It’s the album closer, a brilliant distorted space-disco-punk-noise rattle: it takes that early-noughties genre premise, electroclash, and rams it face-first through a blender, and then does skids through the glorious, sticky mess resulting. Oh man, oh yes.

The visuals down the alley? In cahoots with longtime collaborator Theo Anthony, singer Andrew Laumann has helped put together a mainlined shot of noisy adrenaline, fast-cutting some live footage from the days when sweat and feedback and losing yourself were just something you could do. Just like that. (Want that back? Me too. Let’s keep ’em crossed.) But for now, let’s be blessed by little snarling beauties like this. Can’t wait to have it ringing in my ears for real, mind.

Dope Body’s Crack A Light is available now from Drag City on digital and LP formats; there’s also various tee-shirt and vinyl bundles. Order yours here, or parlay with your trusted local record dealer.
