SEE: Gary, Indiana game break with Alien 3

Manchester electronic post-punk outfit Gary, Indiana seem very much attuned to the habits of many bored-at-home UK residents, with the release of “Alien 3“, out now through Fire Talk Records.

Bringing together clips from, among other things, hallowed video game Red Dead Redemption II (from what we spy… it could easily be an earlier instalment) and a host of game-breaking, glitch imagery, the pulsating synth and almost disco-punk drumming brings everything together like a fever-dreamed John Carpenter techno-horror.

I saw a clip of the video game Mosh Pit Simulator a while back and found it to be both very disturbing and very funny, and I loved that reaction so that was a jumping off point for the ‘Alien 3’ video” says founding member Scott Fair.

I used free software called Blender to make most of the animations, it’s all completely new to me so I was like a kid in a sweet shop wanting to try everything and having fun with it. The other major component of the video is computer game glitches. Some true abominations are created when computer games go wrong and it’s utterly captivating.

Alien 3 manages to juxtapose the coldwave, almost relaxing elements of the track itself with the unsettling glitches with fascinating results. Gamers, casual and hardcore alike, can all attest the frustrating and anger of a game-breaking glitching.

Maybe a little too close to home for many PS4 Cyberpunk 2077 owners…
