See: Groove Armada – Get out on the dancefloor

Groove Armada, one of the UK’s most successful dance groups are back with a new single ‘Get out to the Dancefloor’, out now on BMG and taken from their forthcoming album due out later in the year – their first since 2010’s brilliant ‘Black Light’ album.

Get out on the Dancefloor features features Empire of the Sun and Pnau frontman Nick Littlemore, who speaks from the heart with a stream of socially conscious one liners, before reaching ‘Get on the dancefloor / one move at a time’, underneath there’s the ebb and flow of something that matches it, with little wiry synth lines and drizzles of chord in the verse before things expand in the chorus.

The duo, Tom Findlay and Andy Cato, had accumulated hundreds of extracts of Littlemore’s vocals, editing them together into something that worked. Cato recalls, “As I went through the recordings of Nick, I realised there were lots of cool phrases and great deliveries we could use. It took a very long time to find the right order for them, but once we had that line ‘Get out on the dancefloor, it felt vibey. Slotting the music underneath was the easy bit!”.

The video, as is the case these days, was filmed in lockdown and features a gaggle (is the the collective term for celebrities?) of their big name fans, include US actress Rose McGowan, singer Sophie Ellis Bextor and UK drag star Davina De Campo, plus an army of TikTok’s biggest names.
