OUTTA the mountains of New South Wales, Imogen Clark has released a video for “My Own Worst Enemy”,  the second track to be culled from her upcoming six-tracker The Making of Me, which is set for an August 21st release.

Written with Australian indie star Alex Lahey, “My Own Worst Enemy” is a country-inflected, widescreen, sunroof-down stomper.

“I’ve been a fan of Alex Lahey’s since her first singles came out,” says Imogen. “We had some drinks at a dive bar, opened up a vein about shared experiences in past relationships and the song just flowed out. I loved writing with Alex.”

The video, filmed remotely during lockdown, gathers together a host of faces from the Antipodean scene, and is set around the premise of a play-the-musician interactive game.

It features cameos from Lindsay McDougall, of punksters Frenzal Rhomb; Luke Davison, of rock-soul band The Preatures; Davey Lane, of alt.rockers You Am I, and Georgia Mooney, of folk outfit All Our Exes Live In Texas, among others.

The EP comes fired in a difficult break-up, as Imogen explains: “I’d just ended the most serious romantic relationship of my life. One night I couldn’t get to sleep and sat down at my friend’s piano in London and wrote ‘The Making of Me’ which became my manifesto. If I could make it through this year, the version of me that survived was going to be stronger.”

A sneak preview of the EP reveals a half-dozen, brightly polished, guitar-totin’ tales of empowerment.

The Making Of Me will be released by Potts Entertainment/MGM on August 21st; you an pre-order a copy at https://ffm.to/themakingofme
