See: Julia Shapiro – A Couple Highs

Julia Shapiro

Taken from Chastity Belt singer / guitarist Julia Shapiro’s debut solo album Perfect Vision, the second track she’s revealed from the album so far ‘A Couple Highs, has been given some new visuals, courtesy of director Claire Buss.

A Couple Highs is slow but gritty, with guitars fraying at the edges, and Shapiros vocal on the track spewing melancholy everywhere as it goes. The rather lovely backing vocals cut through the fog to give it that bit of sparkle. An adventure in shoe/slow-gaze, there’s more than enough melody in there to draw a tear to the eye.

The accompanying video sees Shapiro and her dog taking in suburban Seattle, with a subtle nod to Kelly Reichardt’s ‘Wendy and Lucy’ along the way.

‘Perfect Version’ is out June 14th on LP/CD/Digital/Cassette via Hardly Art.
