This year marks 30 years since Lloyd Cole and The Commotions released their debut album, ‘Rattlesnakes’.
Name checking Norman Mailer, Eva Marie Saint, and Simone De Beauvoir it oozed style, and provided a defining moment in the indie folk/rock scene prevalent at the time. The Commotions went on to release two further albums before they split in 1989.Since then Lloyd has continued working and touring as a solo artist, performing mainly acoustic sets. So, it is something of a treat and rarity, that we get to announce, that he will be teaming up with Scottish five piece The Leopards, to present the full electric sound of his tenth solo album , ‘Standards, and favourites from the past, such as ‘Forest Fire’ at four shows across the UK next week.
The Leopards are a group in their own right. Fronted by Glasgow legend and [albeit brief] ex Del Amitri guitarist, ‘Fast’ Mick Slaven, who takes his lead from influences Link Wray, The Voidoids and T Rex. This will be the first time Lloyd has played with a band since touring with The Commotions for the 2004 anniversary tour. They promises to be quite special evenings, make sure you don’t miss out.
