See: Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever – Cameo (Video)

Following the release of their impressive second album, ‘Sideways to the New Italy’ (reviewed by me here) , one of Australia’s greatest musical exports, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever (RBCF) have released a video for one of the tracks, ‘Cameo’.

‘Cameo’ is a delightful jangly track that encapsulates the definitive indie sound of number of their southern hemisphere compatriots, stretching from The Go-Betweens to The Chills and The Underground Lovers. There is a subtle delicacy in the melodies that sticks like glue, mountain range high choruses and a certain self-deprecatory sense of humour – the archness of the Robert Forster-penned Go-Betweens songs.

The video captures a group of musicians who don’t take themselves too seriously and are having fun: breaking through faux walls and spinning in and out of spotlights in the gloom:

Delicious stuff. The album is out now through Sub Pop and Ivy League Records and you can order here.
