See: The Damned release video for Standing on the Edge of Tomorrow

The Damned have released a new video for their single ‘Standing on the Edge of Tomorrow’, out now on Spinefarm Records. It’s taken from their forthcoming album ‘Evil Spirits’, released April 13th (their first in a decade), produced by legendary Bowie producer Tony Visconti.

The video has a futuristic feel, evoking 2001 A Space Odyssey, Dune and The Martian. Directed by Dan Axtell, it’s “an optimistic song even though it is about a dark subject, in a world obsessed by ‘self” explains equally legendary frontman Dave Vanian, who directed the clip.

Musically, the song has a polished sheen and cinematic arrangement, calling to mind the ambitious grandeur of ‘History of the World Part 1’ from their ‘Black Album’ period. This is amplified by the return to the fold of bassist Paul Grey who most notably played on that album.

Diehard 1976 purists may grapple with the concept, but fans who’ve followed their evolution will recognise a band consistently reinventing itself, whilst retaining a timeless and instantly recognisable sound.
