See: The XX Night + Day sessions in London, and new Video, Fiction

The XX are one of our favourite bands here on Backseat Mafia. Well, I say that, they’re one of my favourite bands and I’m writing this article. Anyway, I digress. For those people who have not been on the planet, or at least listened to the radio in the last year or so, then The XX are made up of Oliver, Romy and Jamie. They describe their rise quite succinctly their career as ‘It all started in a bedroom in south-west London, after school, drinking too much pepsi. We just keep on growing.’ That has meant releasing two of the most brilliant, beautiful, atmospheric albums of recent times. And the band have been busy recently, announcing plans for their next night and day event, this time in London. These Night and Day events are basically The XX and their favourite artists in some unique and iconic locations.

London’s event takes place on June 22nd in the beautiful surrounding of Hatfield House, a stately home situated just 20 minutes or so by train from Kings Cross. The line-up includes the band themselves, plus Solange, Polica, Kindness, Mount Kimbie, John Hopkins and the fantastic London Grammar. The whole things kicks off at 1pm with back-to-back DJ Sets with Jamie XX, Benji B and Floating Points.

The single itself is released on July 15th  and is taken from the second of those aforementioned brilliant albums, Coexist. It’s backed by b-side ‘Together’, which has been chosen as the end credits track for the Great Gatsby film.
