Track: Black Heart Breakers – Melody, plus EP and tour news

Leather jackets and denim, chugging guitars and a whole barrel full of sneering attitude are necessary appendages for any serious rock band that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Add to that a superglue chorus and layered harmonies you get Black Heart Breakers and their rip roaring new single ‘Melody’. ‘Melody’ is a little bit punk and a little bit post-punk new wave – I cannot help think of bands like The Clash, Richard Hell and the Voidoids and of course a more restrained version of the Ramones. And there is melody, as the label on the tin suggests. It’s jolly good guitar-driven head-banging fun from a band that would be, I imagine, a lot of fun live.

The video is simple and unadorned, ogling the heady beauty of the Sydney Harbourside because, well, why not. The view is beautiful and slightly vacuous, punctured only by the expressive and somewhat interpretive dancing featuring that all important element – the tambourine solo:
