Track: Blanck Mass – The Devers / Jack’s Theme

Edinburgh based producer Blanck Mass has stepped into the world of film scores, and on March 13th the ever brilliant Invada Records are to released the fruits of his venture with the release of ‘Calm with Horses – Original Score. Nick Rowlands film gets a UK and Ireland cinema release on the same day.

Of the project, Blanck Mass says “Stepping inside the world Nick created was both a new challenge and a rewarding experience. Trying to depict the internal dialogues of the rich and varying characters required me adopting a new discipline, like going undercover as opposed to expressing my own emotion.

Although the score I created has a rich tapestry of sentiments, tying them all together and creating a coherent journey both to picture and as a standalone score has been an amazing experience. The working relationship between Nick and I was explorative and enlightening and I really enjoyed working hands on with him.”

From it Blanck Mass is sharing ‘The Devers’ and ‘Jack’s Theme’. The former is this echoey synth/piano piece, with cascading electronics and the sort of melancholy melodies that pull firmly at your heartstrings. Jack’s Theme is ambient and minimalist, with sweeping, icy melodies surrounded by similarly chilly beats and synths/electronics.
