Track: Bobby Oroza – ‘Loving Body’: a waking lover’s dream of a soul nugget

Bobby Oroza lovin' a silhouetted somebody

RAISED in Helsinki’s east side by a Latin mother and a jazz guitarist father, the music seized Bobby Oroza from an early age; an excellent familial record collection included Motown, doo-wop, crooners and South American folk and set him on his path to a deal with the lovely Big Crown – a great dovetailing.

And he’s just dropped his first brace of sides since his brilliant run of 7″s back in 2018-19 – and that excellent debut album, This Love.

His new 7″ comes with all that sweet, retro Leon Michels atmosphere, and sees the romantic Philly-style soul of “I Got Love” backed with “Loving Body”, the tune we’re gathered here today to delight in.

It’s dreamy, coital seduction, the smooth slide of bodies in harmony, the echo of a half-remembered waking dream, spooning with your lover. It’s retro-soul with the deepest amour in its veins, and it’s properly swoonsome.

Bobby Oroza’s “I Got Love” b/w “Loving Body” is out now as a Big Crown 7″ and digitally, and can be ordered here.
