Track: Catching Flies – ‘GLY’: a sunshiney slice of summer downbeatz

Catching Flies

THE LONDON producer of chilled, intelligent summer downbeatz Catching Flies – known to friends and family as George King – has returned with a cool evening breeze of a new single in “GLY”, all expectancy and early evening uplift, the night young and pregnant with possibility, and all captured in a smooth swing hooking on that line: “I’m gonna love you like nobody loved you”, delivered with cool soul as harps, strings and guitars swell and phase. One for the floor, one for that favourite bar, one for the headphones. It works all ways.

We’re told a remix package of the single will follow in May, featuring reworks from Hot Chip and Ninja Tune’s DJ Boring.

“GLY” is Catching Flies’ first release since his 2019 debut album Silver Linings, which picked up props from the likes of Bonobo and Loyle Carner, Gideon Coe and Gilles Peterson.

Let’s hope 2021 starts to give us the summer this deserves to soundtrack.

Catching Flies’ “GLY” is out now on all digital streaming platforms via Indigo Soul.
