BRISTOL quintet Cousin Kula ply a line in woozy, chillwave jazz to bliss you out with sophistication, talent and a lazy groove – doubt them not and check out “Something So Sweet”, the first single they’ve dropped today from their debut album, Double Dinners, which is out in a fortnight.

Vocalist and guitarist Elliott Ellison, synths and sax man Douglas Cave, synths and backing vocalist William Wells, guitarist Jordan Woollgar and drummer Joe Milkinson have been raising a buzz by the Avon and beyond with a brace of corresponding EPs, 2017’s OODLES and STROODLES two years on; last year’s Casa Kula Cassette sealed the deal for DJ Bradley Zero, who made haste to secure their signatures for his Rhythm Section imprint.

Bradley says: “The band balance an outsider approach with more hooks than you can shake a stick at … the result being a gently beguiling sound that effortlessly draws you in, revealing more character with each listen.”

The quintet are heading out on the road in support of the album early next month, those dates being as follows:

Saturday, December 4th, Bristol, Strange Brew;
Tuesday, December 7th, Falmouth, Cornish Bank;
Wednesday, December 8th, Brighton, Prince Albert, and
Thursday, December 9th, London, Jazz Café.
