Track: Ezra Furman – Suck the blood from my wound, plus UK tour dates

His new album ‘Transangelic Exodus’ is still a month away from its 9th February release on Bella Union, and already Ezra Furman has released a couple of singles from it in the shape of ‘Driving Down To L.A.’ and ‘Love You So Bad’. Add to that a third now with ‘Suck the blood from my wound’, about which Ezra comments “It’s a song with enough situational detail and imagery that it could be adapted into a film or a novel. Not that it necessarily should be. It started with me writing a whole album about me and my illegal transangelic hospital-escapee partner running from a hostile government. All of my deepest concerns as an artist whirling into a bizarre dream of perpetual narrow escape”.

As ever with Furman, its packed with juicy, off-kilter melodies and wry, often funny storytelling contained within. Throw in this bouncy accompaniment, slithery synth lines and a good old white noise wig out to finish, and you have something rather good.
