Track: Girl Ray – Stupid Things

Of their new single Stupid Things, out via Moshi Moshi on April 14th, Girl Ray lead vocalist and guitarist Poppy Hankin says “It’s about crushing really hard on someone, and finding myself doing fucking ridiculous things to feel like we’ve got some kind of connection. Watching films that they mentioned fleetingly or ordering their favourite drink at a bar. Very stupid but happens every single time, ha ha”.

Stupid things is the follow-up to ‘Trouble’, their first single for Moshi Moshi, and its a joyous indie/girl-group torch song, with hints of Motown and this rather lovely scuffed up messiness in the accompaniment. Its also just about the most instant, gloriously melodic tune of the year so far, and we’ve fallen for it in rather a big way.
