TRACK: Holy Drone – ‘Fibres’: a lovely Cheshire shoegaze drop

Holy Drone

HOLY DRONE, Warrington’s lovely purveyors of shoegaze, are back with their first new material since last year’s blissful heathaze shimmer, “Northern Fire”.

They’ve spent the past year working on new material and, like the rest of us, navigating the new weird we find ourselves in. The first fruits of those months of writing are with us now in the shape of “Fibres”. We’ve embedded it for you down there, after the words.

This proved to be one of those songs that came together really quickly, in a flash of inspiration; it was written back in Lockdown One, when at least we had that spell of balmy weather to lift our spirits – as it did the band’s.

It’s a proper sweet caress of a tune, pairing Robin Guthrie-esque guitar play – all sweet major sevenths, bursts of delicious, overdriven six-string fire, and Emma’s honeyed vocals.

Can we get an album, or at least a singles comp, on vinyl, guys please? That’d be just the job.

Follow Holy Drone on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram Spotify, SoundCloud, Bandcamp and YouTube.
