Track: Holy Hive – Broom

Ahead of the release of their album ‘Float Back To You’, Holy Hive – aka Homer Steinweiss, the Brooklyn based soul-funk drumming staple and sometime Daptone, Paul Spring, a young idealist folk singer traveling the country, and studio assistant named Joe Harrison oped in to join the band on bass, have released a new single on the Big Crown label, Hipnosis b/w Broom

The band have released both tracks, and while Hipnosis floats and is the sort of sun baked good time record that you can lay back and drift off to, Broom is the heavier, emotionally weightier of the two. Springs falsetto soars over both tracks, the folk-soul of the arrangements perfectly suiting his range, but he just manages to coax the tears out in Broom.
