Track: Korpiklaani – Tuuleton

Finnish folk metal band Korpiklaani’s new album Jylhä! has been released and in celebration, the band have produced another gorgeous music video for the song Tuuleton.

Frontman Jonne said about Jylhä:

“This is the most versatile Korpiklaani album we have done. We have some of our hardest, heaviest and fastest songs ever, and we have happy and melancholic ones. It is funny how you can do so many different kinds of music, but when these guys play it with these instruments it always sounds like Korpiklaani.”

The sheer scale of this track is breathtaking. A gravelly voice over nylon strung guitar and an accordion is joined by pounding drums and heavy rock guitar providing the back bone for the gentler instruments to bring some fabulous melodies. The track flows and twists from charming folk to full on rock with a chorus that verges on power metal in its intensity. All topped with one hell of a powerful rock voice.

THE MEANING OF TUULETON (“THE WINDLESS”):
“This is a bird-themed story, where a character named Windless is an almost flightless bird. He groans when he flies, but it’s not natural him living on the ground either. He mourns his inability to fly like other birds, and is bitter because he is not accepted because he’s different. Winter comes, and when the nightly frosts arrive it becomes increasingly difficult for him to survive on the cold ground.”
