SEE: Oh Wonder’s ‘Don’t You Worry’ soothes lockdown blues

SWOONSOME London duo Oh Wonder have continued to create under the privations of lockdown, with the fifth song in their acclaimed Home Tapes project out now.

“Don’t You Worry” completes a quintet of home-recorded tunes to be issued over the recent, distanced months.

It’s an intimate love song “about the intimacy and connection still possible during lockdown”. Anthony West and Josephine Vander Gucht soothe in close harmony: “Stay here darling /  Don’t you worry bout a thing.” It’s whisper delicate, underscored by a delicate acoustic guitar and a melodic drone sustaining.

It comes as the latest in the Home Tapes series, all of which touch upon chronicling the experience of 2020.

The first release, the more electronic “Lonely Star”, sought to examine the daily frustrations of lockdown isolation, while “Keep On Dancing” took an “I Will Survive” approach to the cancellation of a birthday party; “Oceansize” articulated a yearning for space.

The extremity and suddenness of circumstances has seen the band, who have a well-appointed home studio, retreat to what they know best: writing and producing.

With two top ten and one top thirty UK album under their belts, it’s the only small matter of the extensive, and cancelled, world tour to rearrange that can cloud their sky; of which the band say, “[It’s] is currently being rerouted for 2021, with further information to follow soon.”
