Track: Pauline Murray reveals new track, ‘Shadow In My Mind’, plus album/tour news

Singer/songwriter and bona fide first wave punk pioneer has never rested on her reputation. From the expansive raw highs of Penetration (the only band who could cover Patti Smith and Buzzcock’s numbers with aplomb) to the glacial song-scapes of the Invisible Girls, she has always been a leader. Steadily building an artistic hub around Polestar Studios in Byker, NE England with long time partner Robert Blamire since 2011, she is about to take another leap forwards with the release of a new album ‘Elemental’ (due 25th September on Polestar Records).

Pauline has already previewed the album with the anthemic synth-stomper ‘Secrets’ and now comes a second taster the upbeat, melodic ‘Shadow In My Mind’. Originally part of her acoustic solo show, the new track has shaken off any shyness to grow into a jangling pop- electro hybrid with driving acoustic guitars and Blamire’s propulsive bass. Of course Murray’s voice brings the emotion, as clear, ringing and passionate as ever…she catches a tune and makes it fly somewhere else.

So Pauline Murray’s return with ‘Elemental’ can’t come soon enough. Oh and there is also the little matter of the 2021 UK tour with The Psychedelic Furs to dream about…fingers crossed and trench coats on!
