Track Review: Saltwater Sun – Hot Mess

Reading’s guitar maestros Saltwater Sun share exhilarating new track ‘Hot Mess, providing another example of their limitless potential and firmly re-positioning the quintet at the heart of the indie landscape. Having returned with the tenacious ‘The Wire’ earlier this year, attracting widespread press coverage and hitting the BBC Radio 1/Radio X airwaves (Huw Stephens, John Kennedy) in the process, the Hand In Hive signees take things up a notch in their shimmering new anthem. There album of the same name is out now on Hand In Hive.

Thriving on their return to the live circuit with capacity shows at The Great Escape and Are You Listening? last month, the band will be heading out on a UK tour in September.

13 Sept – Heartbreakers, Southampton
14 Sept – Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar, Brighton
20 Sept – Purple Turtle, Reading
22 Sept – EBGBs, Liverpool
27 Sept – Sebright Arms, London

The track is an impassioned plea to let go of any shackles and not take yourself too seriously. The vocals of Jen Stearnes dominate with catchy riffs and infectious harmonies providing the backdrop.
