Since the release of her debut EP Dearly Beloved in 2018, singer Ruby Gilbert has gained growing attention from the music industry with her nostalgic musical style and solid, charismatic vocals. Having received a Queensland Music Award nomination for her debut single Oh Bones, Gilbert has played an array of prominent Australian music festivals including BIGSOUND and has opened for such names as C.W. Stoneking, Justin Townes Earle and The Teskey Brothers.
Now, with the release of her new single, the enchantingly blues-infused No Vacancy, Ruby Gilbert showcases her distinctive ability to meld genres and create compelling musical tales. Recorded and produced by Aaron Shanahan (Miami Horror, Dream Dali, Sunday), this track defines Gilbert’s style of combining old and new influences. No Vacancy’s sorrowful, acoustic opening is soon accompanied by surging trumpet and electric slide guitar riffs, in a pleasing mix of folk-rock and blues. Gilbert sets the scene for a tale of romance and hopelessness, using her evocative and sultry vocals.

No Vacancy has already seen strong industry support. As well as already earning the singer another Queensland Music Award nomination, it has also been added to Double J rotation, played on community radio around Australia and featured on blogs including Countrytown and AAA Backstage.
