TRACK: Summer Heart’s ‘Good Together’: pristine dreampop announces new label home

David Alexander, aka Summer Heart

SUMMER HEART, the dreampop recording alias of Swede David Alexander, has announced his signing for Icons Creating Evil Art with the release of a sweet and soaring new synthpop tune, “Good Together”. Take a listen below on our SoundCloud embed.

Over the past near-decade that Summer Heart have been active as a proposition, David’s remained fiercely independent, self-releasing; he’s just completed a project entitled 12 Songs Of Summer, which has seen him release a new song or remix every month for the past year.

But it’s his new home at Icons Creating Evil Heart which will be releasing his new seven-track EP, Ambitions, on November 6th; “Good Together” is the lead taster track.

The new EP chronicles David’s life and romances with a lightness of touch and a spring in his step; a great deal of the material for Ambitions was written in California and his home city, Malmö.

David says of “Good Together”: “This song is about when you meet a new person that you really like, it feels as if you fit perfectly together and you have an ‘us against the world’ vibe, but then in the end nothing really comes out of it. Then you might look back and wonder what it would have been like if the two of you had ended up together.

“This was the first song written for this record. That melody was the first thing that came to me and the phrase ‘Good together’ was the first line of text, so it’s a nice thing that this is the first song to be released from there.”

And of the new EP, he adds: “Before going on tour I always make sure to wrap up all the work I have postponed or ignored so I can come back to a blank slate; but since my tour got cancelled it was the first time in my adult life I actually didn’t have anything to do.

“It was very freeing and I could sit down and think about what I wanted to create and what I had struggled with in the past. I realised I’ve just wanted too much and never really been able to slow down and see things from a different perspective.

“The EP itself is about having high ambitions and wanting to do so many things at the same time but not always knowing where to put your focus.”

Summer Heart’s Ambitions will be available to stream and download from November 6th via Icons Creating Evil Art. Follow Summer Heart on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
