Track: Sunburn – Jump the Gun

Sunburn are part of an astonishing cluster of indie bands that are bursting out of Dublin at the moment. Indeed, Sunburn have a melodic and passionate creativity that makes them as endearing and enduring as fellow Dublinites Fontaines D.C., The Murder Capital and Just Mustard, with more of a pop flavour.

The shard-like guitars of ‘Jump the Gun’, the debut single for Sunburn have a certain Celtic ambience that give this song a distinctive edge. A rousing chorus is wide and expansive, the vocals have that earthy purity and poetic intensity that echoes their compatriots, but above all this has all the hallmarks of a great pop song:

‘Jump the Gun’ is an anthemic and catchy debut, from a young and very promising band, that sparkles and shines. You can detect elements of bands like The Arctic Monkeys in the intelligent lyrics and vibrancy, with musical roots back to the baggy Madchester scene of the late eighties/nineties.

The single is out now and available through all the usual download/streaming sites.

Zak Coghlan (lead vocals/guitars/songwriter)
