Track: The dreamy and ethereal Barrie returns with more sublime synth pop in track ‘Frankie’ and announces US and European tour

I really shouldn’t dwell on the past so much but Barrie‘s single ‘Tal Uno’, reviewed by me here back in 2018 remains one of the most outstanding and perfect slices of pure pop heaven I’ve heard over my years of writing for Backseat Mafia. Subsequent releases displayed the same acute ear for melody, laden with a heartbreaking melancholia and a delicious synth base. While membership of the band has fluctuated over time, the central member has always remained Barrie Lindsay and after a quiet period, Barrie is back with another sweet synth pop delight ‘Frankie’.

The trademark shiny bright pop melancholia shimmers and shines in this track – the synths forming a bubbling stream that washes over the surface and Lindsay’s voice floating and ethereal as she gently critiques capitalism:

Wait for the break when we get some rain
Swim in the creeks that the New Deal laid
Can’t break even but can’t complain
Pushed right back to try it again

The accompanying video directed by Adinah Dancyger exhibits a charming sense of humour as Lindsay executes some interesting dance moves, capturing the ineffable charm of the song:

Out through Winspear Music, ‘Frankie’ is available to download and stream here and you can get it in a variety of formats through the link below along with earlier single ‘Dig’ – just as sublime:
