Track: The Murder Capital – Live From BBC Maida Vale (EP)

Recorded live at BBC’s Maida Vale Studio just before the pandemic closedown, The Murder Capital have just released an EP that features a sparse, haunting cover of FKA Twigs’s song Cellophane as well as a couple of early singles “Don’t Cling To Life” and “Green & Blue”.

Of the choice for lead single off the EP, the band had the following message:

When…asked…to do a live session at Maida Vale, covering FKA Twigs was an easy decision. “Cellophane” especially encapsulates such a poignant landmark of heartbreak, and its innately exposed nature further allowed us to really connect with it.

The process itself was exciting for us, as we came to reshape its original mould, and impart our own sound and emotion onto the sentiment of inadequacy that she embodies so selflessly on the track.

A truly unique artist who we appreciate greatly.

Take it easy out there and look after yourselves

It certainly is a change of pace for the band and a fitting soundtrack to the age of isolation:

You can buy or stream the EP here. Check out our review of their brilliant album ‘When I Have Fears’, released last August.
