Track: The Primitives – Thru The Flowers

The Primitives were/are much more than just Crash, the song that defines them and remains an essential part of any (well, the ones I went to, anyway) indie disco from its 1988 release onward.

Optic Nerve records, as part of its Optic Sevens 2.0 reissue series, are reissuing the bands debut release Thru The Flowers, the orginal 1986 version on Lazy (LAZY001) rather than the re-recorded version that appeared on debut album Lovely. Armed with Mary Chain like guitars and as catchy a chorus as you can imagine, its n uplifting smile-a-thon slice of gloriously scuzzy indie pop.

Originally only available on 12″, the release comes in coloured vinyl, with all 4 tracks squeezed onto 7″ and with a poster and a postcard included in the package, which is limited to 800 copies.

It’s out 21st February through Optic Nerve.

Previous Track: Jordan Rakei - Signs (feat. Common)
Next Track: Bartelby Delicate - From Top To Toe
