Track: The Sea Gypsies unveil amazing new single ‘Daydream’

Australian indie rockers The Sea Gypsies return to the spotlight after a 2-year hiatus, to release new single Daydream. Their new track shows a new side to the group that fans will be delighted to experience – the track honours the bands rock music roots while delivering refreshing and catchy sounds. ‘Daydream’ is a laid-back tale of love delivered in perfect, alt-rock style, reminiscent of Ocean Alley but with elements that are truly the band’s own take on rock.

“Daydream is a love song, without being an ‘in-your-face’ love song. The music leaves the listener feeling as though this song is built upon layers of relational failures and triumphs.” – The Sea Gypsies

Recorded at The Grove Studios in Somersby, New South Wales, The Sea Gypsies created the new single with Producer Jack Nigro (DZ Deathrays, The Delta Riggs)and the track was mastered by Darren Ziesing (RUFUS DU SOL, Tina Arena). Apparently ‘Daydream’ was a winner as soon as vocalist Luke Marlin began penning the lyrics into his notebook. The melodic chorus is catchy and energised with pleasingly familiar elements, yet at the same time it has distinctive ‘Sea Gypsies’ flavour. It’s the kind of track you’d be happy to get stuck in your head, or even better, play on a coastal drive on a sun-soaked afternoon. There is something accessible about the song and it will undoubtedly appeal to a wide range of listeners.

The Sea Gypsies are by no means new to the Australian music scene, having released debut album Movements in 2018 and quickly cementing their reputation as talented musicians and songwriters with plenty of charm. Before COVID slowed down the live music scene last year, the band were selling out shows along the East Coast of Australia and receiving widespread  support and amazing reviews for their engaging and memorable live shows.

The Sea Gypsies are:
Luke Marlin – Vocals, Rhythm Guitar
Dan Hoolihan – Lead Guitar
Joe Smith – Keys, Backing Vocals
Jackson Burke – Bass Guitar
Luke Fabila – Drums

‘Daydream’ is out now.
