Track: The Streets – Where the F*&k did April Go

Mike Skinner, aka The Streets has just released the b-side to his new single ‘Call my phone thinking I’m doing nothing better’ which featured Tame Impala. Called ‘Where the f*&k did April go’, the track is a bonus that won’t feature on his forthcoming mixtape, but is available to stream now.

Speaking about the new track, Mike says: “I wrote this last week. It’s a weird time isn’t it. We were looking forward to the Summer just like everyone else, festivals and gigs all there, new music, new stage set – but this has taken the wind from everyone’s sails. And none of us know quite how to cope with it all. I just wrote a tune the same way other people might talk to a therapist!

It harks back (at least a little) to his garage roots, filled with misty chords, gluey bass lines and this soulful hook, as over the top Skinner weaves his tales of everyday life with the sharp wit and observation that set him apart from his generation.

As relevant and brilliant as ever. Check it out, here

Mike Skinner has today released the B-Side to his recent The Streets single ‘Call My Phone Thinking I’m Doing Nothing Better ft. Tame Impala‘. ‘Where The F*&k Did April Go’ is a bonus release that won’t feature on the forthcoming mixtape, and is available everywhere now. LISTEN TO WHERE THE F*&K DID APRIL GOWATCH THE VIDEO TO CMPTIDNB ft TAME IMPALA The original plan had been to release a TONGA album (the balloon filled rap, grime and dubstep party by Mike and Murkage Dave, which had been a series of shoobs to remember). Copenhagen to Manchester to Berlin. Brum to Brixton. Usually arriving with a coterie of legendary UK figureheads and gobby upcomers in tow, like Kano, GiggsJammer or Jaykae, the pulsating essence of the nights needed to be immortalised.  But as night moved to day, and day moved along to night, it… just didn’t happen. Instead, a new mixtape None Of Us Are Getting Out Of This Life Alive steps up to take its place. Recorded between work on the accompanying film to The Streets new album, it is the unpredictable sonic continuation of those parties.
