Track: These are not ‘Important Things’ – Marveline unleashes a glorious piece of charming and romantic whimsy.


Marveline – the inspiration of Pete Marley (The Nature Strip and a coterie of other bands) has opened the account for 2022 with a jaunty piece of whimsy with the new single ‘Important Things’. After a darker turn with last year’s ‘Evil Worm’, Marley is back to his ebullient self with a dappling rich luscious track that sparkles and shines. A spine tingling crunch of jangling guitars and pianos carry his self-deprecatory style with aplomb, the lyrics imbued with a gentle and charming sense of humour:

I bought you a star
Not the most expensive one
A long way from the Sun
And I like to think
On a planet near that star
A lovesick fool has just bought ours
For his favourite alien

There is a genuine warmth to this pop epistle with its romanticism and inherent optimism:
