Track: Tom Lumley and the Brave Liaison serve up the exciting ‘Fake Friends’ in anticipation of their album ‘Everything’s Affected’, and announce launch gigs.

Cambridge’s Tom Lumley and the Brave Liaison today release a scything and anthemic track, ‘Fake Friends’, that is a scintillating post punk bash filled with energy and attitude. The guitar attack is sparkling and crunchy, the rhythm section insistent and thunderous and the vocals and melodies urgent and indelible. The track is off the band’s forthcoming album ‘Everything’s Affected’ due out on 22 October 2021 and will be supported by a UK tour.

The band says:

‘Fake Friends’ casts a speculative view over the online relationships between someone in the public eye and their thousands of followers. All of the trivial interactions between a person and their followers which ultimately mean nothing but are done simply to boost “interaction”. The song asks the question as to how many would still be there supporting them if they fall behind what is current.

This is stadium-ready indie rock that is open and expansive, and the band has an enigmatic presence captured by the accompanying video. The half made up clown faces of the band – two faces – emphasises the themes of falseness and hypocrisy while the band’s performance is exciting and bold:

You can stream the single here and preorder the album here. Tom Lumley and the Brave Liaison are Tom Lumley, Jake Day, Billy Stewart and Jonny Thompson.
