‘ Where Would We Be‘ is the first single taken from the upcoming album ‘Lost In Abstraction’, the second album from Welsh Harpist Amanda Whiting. Following her critically acclaimed ‘After Dark‘ debut, Amanda Whiting explores new territories – with an emotionally charged energy and spiritual questioning a new soundscape of modernity has emerged. The Reynolds/ Thorne/ Whiting trio is joined again by the mesmerising lines of flautist Chip Wickham, resuming their conversation reminiscent of Dorothy Ashby and Frank Wess. ‘ Where Would We Be’ starts with a bold fusion of Middle Eastern Maqam, fused with hints of Dorothy Ashby’s weaving harp textures. Whiting is a virtuoso to be sure, yet she stands out in her unique capacity to draw the listener in to her music that builds and suddenly takes you on a journey with soundscapes you least expect. The rhythm section provide an almost old school Hip- Hop feel to an otherwise classical-jazz harmony, rendering the track a thing of beauty, charm, and mystery.
