Widowspeak – Everything Is Simple

Widowspeak, (singer-songwriter Molly Hamilton and guitarist Robert Earl Thomas have announced their sixth studio album, The Jacket, to be released 11th March via Captured Tracks. The debut track ‘ Everything Is Simple’ is a stunning preview of their album. ‘ Everything Is Simple’ feels like a spiritual song about shifting perspectives in the face of adversity. The music video for the track, directed by OTIUM beautifully depicts the grounding and resilient nature of the duo, inherent in these lyrics “learned to love the ropes when you were caught, see they could be braided a better way and sinking into nothing – you learn to stay”. It’s all the more empowering to hear those lyrics and see the scene, watching in fear at herd of bulls consumed in rage at a Rodeo. It’s truly heartwarming to see a video that brings out a message in a song so perfectly ; I was hooked from the very first line’ ” Everything is simple until it’s not”. The message : it’s not about reaching a potential ; it’s about appreciating the journey, and the way we handle life.
