AMIDST a plethora of social media frenzy, highly publicised pop culture and over-indulgent music production, the socially conscious and musically prolific duo Zeitgeist & Tucceri release a most exquisite lament for nature.
The Melbourne/Berlin duo have dropped “Learning Curve” ahead of their highly anticipated album Jin Mu, due out in June on La Sape Records.
Having previously worked together on the Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, percussionist Ziggy Zeitgeist and flautist Erica Tucceri joined forces once more to produce a record that’s a very open reflection of our lost connection to nature.
“Learning Curve” is reflective, healing and truly an insightful exchange between percussive instruments that sound like a wind section, and in return, metal and wooden flutes that echo the drumming sounds of the cosmos. If this track is anything to go by in anticipation of the duo’s album it promises to be a much-welcomed break from the over-frenetic world of contemporary jazz; it instead offers a meditative contemplation, in in the case of the duo’s native Australia, our lost compassion for the displacement of its native population. Truly an example of socially conscious music that puts ambient jazz on full display in all its glory.
