See: Travis get animated on new single

A QUARTER-century since they first gathered in a Glaswegian rehearsal room, Fran Healy and the boys from Travis are preparing to release their ninth studio set – and have teased what’s in store with an animated video for new single “A Ghost”.

And with lockdown biting partway through conception, Fran had to fall back on talents from other fields to bring the video to fruition.

He explained: “The video for ‘A Ghost’ started out as a mocked up picture of me and three ghosts in a deserted alleyway. It looked cool.

“Just when everything was ready to shoot, the world went into lockdown, so we had this great song with no way to make a video … in an act of desperation, I decided to draw it. Before I was singer in Travis I was a student at Glasgow School of Art so I am a good draughtsman, but I’d never done animation. So I drew and drew and drew and drew: 2,500 drawings later, it was done”.

Uplifting and folksy, “A Ghost” trails the band’s ninth studio LP, which is out on October 9th via BMG.

10 Songs was recorded over the past winter and features guest appearances by Jason Lyttle of Grandaddy on pedal steel, and The Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs.

The album will be available on standard CD, vinyl, and cassette, as well as expanded 2CD and double LP, versions featuring an extra disc, 10 Demos; the deluxe vinyl version is pressed on red and blue vinyl.
