News: Big Country Bring Their Celtic Rock Anthems Back to Australia

For the first time since 2019, Scotland’s own Celtic rock titans Big Country are set to return to stages across the globe with The Greatest Hits Tour — a rousing celebration of the anthems that defined a generation and carved their place in post-punk folklore.

Formed in the gritty heart of Dunfermline back in 1981, Big Country rose to fame on the back of The Crossing — their thunderous debut album that fused chiming folk-tinged guitars with the urgency of post-punk. With songs like “In A Big Country”, “Fields of Fire”, and “Chance”, they put Scottish rock on the map.

Their sound, equal parts windswept and widescreen, stood toe-to-toe with U2 and Simple Minds in the ’80s arena-rock sweepstakes, earning them two Grammy nominations and a legion of fans worldwide. But it’s that unmistakable Celtic fire—guitars that weep like bagpipes, choruses that punch like storm tides—that truly set them apart.

Now, with a setlist packed with classics like “Look Away” and “Wonderland”, the band are poised to take fans on a journey back through a catalogue that still sounds as vital, epic, and unshakably Scottish as ever.
