Hot on the heels of her evocative release Arpeggios of Raindrops, composer and singer-songwriter Jacqueline Kroft returns with her latest sonic offering, ‘The First Blossom’—a shimmering, cinematic piece that captures the quiet magic of seasonal renewal. Known for her delicate yet commanding piano work, Kroft weaves together intricate harmonies and elegant motifs in a track that feels both intimate and expansive.
A classically trained pianist with a background in visual art, Kroft channels her deep compositional prowess into this new single, inviting listeners into a world where spring is more than a season—it’s a living, breathing character. With lilting melodies and airy textures layered above grounded, contemplative bass lines, ‘The First Blossom’ unfurls like its namesake, revealing new depths with each listen.
Speaking about the single, she dives in, “I wrote ‘The First Blossoms’ like the first steps into spring where there’s this music developing under the ground from the sleeping fauna. We can’t see anything but we feel the energy of the plants waking from slumber and feel a freshness in the air. I really like this time in spring, it’s an awakening and then we get the explosion of life and colour. I played the piano in this way.”
Commenting on the music video, she adds, “Pete Seaward, the world-renowned cinematographer and a good friend has documented some of the most precious heritage gardens and wildlife in Oxfordshire for this film. Anne Marie Lepretre styled me in two Redheart England dresses so that we created a fantasy world inside and out of a splendid world palace. That’s what our earth is.”
