Luciano Mendonça, a Brazilian-American musician known for his soulful energy and captivating performances, has released his debut album, Sign in the Stars. Based in Tampa Bay, Mendonça is a versatile multi-instrumentalist whose sound draws from a rich tapestry of genres, including alternative rock/pop, jazz, soul, funk, fusion, and R&B. His songwriting is driven by a fundamental belief in the importance of musical quality.

Sign in the Stars showcases this core value through ten emotive soundscapes that defy categorization. Audiences will find themselves immersed in the gleaming acoustic atmospheres of the title track, the gritty alternative distortion of ‘Our Role’, and the energizing blend of Brazilian heritage and Jamiroquai influences on ‘Dancing in the Sky’. These tracks highlight Mendonça’s talent for crafting spellbinding arrangements, connecting introspective lyricism with unrestricted ensembles to create raw and engaging tapestries of sound.

Reflecting on his new album, Mendonça explains, “Each track in Sign in the Stars is a deeply personal reflection, drawn from my own life experiences and emotions. I also have a unique ability to empathize with others’ feelings, allowing me to craft music that resonates with a wide range of emotions, even those I may not personally be experiencing.”

Mendonça first garnered recognition as the bass player for Emmerson Nogueira’s Versao Acustica band in the early 2000s. Since then, his career has evolved significantly. He weaves inspiration from jazz legends, contemporary standouts, and unknown musicians whose sounds have touched his soul, creating a signature sound that reflects his deep passion and love for the art of music. Known for his ability to transform the simplest things into sublime musical moments, Mendonça views every sound in the universe as a potential source of inspiration.

Sign in the Stars is a testament to Luciano Mendonça’s journey as a musician and his unwavering commitment to creating music that truly matters. With this debut album, he not only shares his personal reflections but also invites listeners to experience the world through his unique musical lens.
