News: Sam Foster Smith returns with cinematic indie anthem ‘Go With The Flow’

Sam Foster Smith shares the cinematic indie-pop fizzer new single ‘Go With The Flow’. Further cementing his status as one of the South West’s most exciting rising indie voices, the single showcases Smith’s anthemic, Sam Fender-esque songwriting.

Fuelled by biting guitar riffs and wrapped in infectious, pop-tinged melodies, the track bursts forward with both finesse and urgency. It’s a release that comfortably straddles the line between indie-rock grit and alt-pop accessibility, delivering emphatic, sing-along choruses that feel tailor-made for packed venues and late-night radio spins alike.

Beneath its energetic exterior, ‘Go With The Flow’ carries a reflective core. Written as a meditation on finding balance in the chaos of early adulthood, Smith taps into a universal feeling—being overwhelmed by the future while trying to carve out a sense of identity. Rather than resisting that pressure, the track leans into acceptance, encouraging listeners to slow down and trust their path.

The single is elevated further by production from Gareth Nuttall, whose work with The K’s, The Lottery Winners and Frank Turner has helped define a new wave of British indie. Here, Nuttall brings a polished intensity that enhances Smith’s natural energy without diluting the emotional authenticity at the song’s heart.

Speaking about the release, Smith says: “Your twenties can be scary, and I often find myself overwhelmed by the mountainous journey ahead, trying to establish a foothold in life and become the artist I know I can be. Sometimes, turning to your family, to someone who has a few more years under their belt, can relieve some of that pressure. ‘Go With The Flow’ is a reflection on this, a muse on the catharsis of letting go and trusting that the choices you make will take you to where you need to go.”

Catch Sam Foster Smith playing The Stag’s Head, London, on the 10th April
