News: Yagki drops fearless new track ‘Adults’

YAGKI is back, and she’s pulling no punches. The Lebanese-Australian pop-rock artist has unleashed her latest single, ‘Adults’—an expansive, emotionally charged anthem produced by Yianni Adams (Betty, Kyoshi).

Opening with swirling synths and a gut-punch of a first line, ‘Adults’ is an unflinching dive into power imbalances, personal reckoning, and the scars left behind. The track builds with cinematic grandeur, weaving introspective verses into euphoric, tension-fuelled choruses that rise and shatter like a tidal wave.

Speaking to The Music, YAGKI reflected on her turbulent past—bullied at school, living in a women’s refuge, and ultimately finding salvation in music. ‘Adults’ details a relationship she had at 17 with her former university lecturer, confronting the blurred lines of authority and vulnerability.

“I had an intimate relationship with my ex-uni lecturer just a year after finishing my course. I met him at 17 when I enrolled in a music university, and in only two months, the teacher who once inspired me shattered my admiration through an intense imbalance of power. I found myself sharing a bed with him only when we shared his medicated weed, and I tried to distance myself until he finally let go. ‘Adults’ is about people in the music industry who abuse their power and authority, failing to take responsibility for those who look up to them the most.” – Yagki

With this fearless new single, YAGKI is set to hit the road for a three-city tour across WA, NSW, and VIC, sharing the stage with Playlunch, Sophian, and REX. Buckle up—this is an artist with something to say, and she’s not afraid to say it.
