Brisbane singer-songwriter Hatchie, aka Harriette Pilbeam, has released a new video in support of her single Sure. Its the first bloom of her new association with Heavenly Records and comes ahead of first UK live dates this spring, taking in The Great Escape, Live at Leeds and a number of London shows.
Of the song, composed on a whim and completed in one day, she says “All of my songs start with singing. I hear the melody first and then work out the chords I’m imagining under that, and despite not knowing chord names I have a good ear so can kinda figure it out.” There’s a feeling of fellow Australians Alvvays about the track, its summery wistfulness and infectious melody always to the fore, while its polished up and given extra sparkle with these Sundays like vocal harmonies. Its the sort of song that makes you smile and brings a tear to your eye at the same time.
