Sydney is simmering, the city trapped in an unseasonable heatwave breaking records for the hottest winter day since 1995. At the Hordern Pavilion, the crowd is hot, restless and buzzing with the anticipation that only comes from knowing you’re about to witness something special. Madison Beer has landed in Australia, bringing her Encore tour to these shores for the first time, and the air is thick with expectation.

With over 2.4 billion streams to her name, Beer is a shapeshifter, her sound effortlessly blending pop, R&B, and soul. Her hits—‘Reckless,’ ‘Selfish,’ ‘Sweet Relief,’ ‘Home To Another One,’ and her latest single, ‘Make You Mine’—have woven themselves into the fabric of contemporary music, her voice carving out spaces where emotion meets melody.

The crowd’s excitement is tangible, almost like an electric current pulsing through the venue. When Beer finally steps onto the stage, the energy explodes. Dressed in a white bustier and puff skirt, she’s a study in contrasts—polished yet approachable, a pop icon who still manages to radiate a grounded authenticity. The visuals behind her are stunning, but it’s her presence that holds the room.

What makes Madison Beer truly resonate, though, is her ability to bridge generations. When she launches into ‘Showed me’ which samples The Lightning Seeds’ ‘You Showed Me,’ she does more than just sing a song; she connects. It’s a moment that wins over not just the teens who’ve made her their queen, but the parents too, their own nostalgia triggered by the familiar chords. In that moment, Madison Beer isn’t just performing—she’s creating a shared experience, making everyone in the room feel seen.
