Despite being unable to continue their normal yearly routine, the Aussie festival will be hosting a virtual version for fans and artists alike, on Monday June 1st. Previous editions of the SOTA festival have seen Aussie greats such as Karnivool, Katy Steele, The China Blue Experiment, Jebediah, and Your Girl Pho. This is part of their celebration of WA Day and, of course, to return performers to doing what they do best. Usually located in Burswood Park of Perth, the festival showcases the best in West Australian talent, it will this year take in the living rooms of SOTA 2020’s lineup.
Artists on the 2020 roster include San Cisco, Abbe May, Carla Geneve, Gina Williams & Guy Ghouse, and SOTA regular Drapht. Also on the lineup is enigmatic art-rock act Methyl Ethel, whose latest release was an EP of tracks unsuitable for previous LP Triage. Penultimate act of the festival is the unceasingly thriving “Psychedelic Porn Crumpets”, a staple of SOTA festival as well as massive Europe based festivals like last year’s All Points East. The group, even with a prolific output of three albums and a collection of b-sides since 2014, recently revealed on Instagram that a fourth release was imminent.
The stream will be broadcast on Monday from the SOTA facebook page, through Freo.social. The festival begins at 2pm (WA), lasting until 8pm. For those outside of Australia, where time zones may cause inconvenience, all six hours of performance will be simulcast by radio site RTRFM.
