Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers have just unleashed their highly anticipated debut album, ‘I Love You’, and it’s a musical rollercoaster of emotions that’s sure to have your heart melting. Get ready to grab the eyeliner and maybe even block your ex in advance, because this quirky quartet has a lot to say about love and life.

Formed in 2015 in Ngunnawal/Canberra, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers is composed of Anna Ryan, Scarlett McKahey, Jaida Stephenson, and Neve van Boxsel. Their debut album, which boasts over 500,000 monthly Spotify listeners and has garnered international acclaim, showcases the unique strengths of each band member. It marks a significant evolution from their earlier punk rock releases to explore softer bubblegum love songs, defying easy categorization. Beyond their music, the band is driven by a passionate commitment to addressing issues affecting women, non-binary individuals, and youth, all while maintaining their distinctive punk rock sound. Currently touring across Australia with DMA’s and gearing up for their I Love You headline tour, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are making waves and spreading their message of pure joy, rage, and euphoria to an ever-growing audience.

The album kicks off with the infectious ‘I Used To Be Fun’, an anthem that will resonate with anyone reminiscing about the good old days of late nights at the pub followed by early mornings at work. ‘Treat Me Better’ follows, cranking up the energy with its punk-infused plea for better treatment in relationships – a self-proclaimed ode to shitty housemates. It’s like your best friend giving you a reality check while shredding on the guitar.

‘Backseat Driver’ takes you on a wistful journey with its mesmerizing guitar hooks and harmonies, evoking nostalgia for a youthful heartbreak. Next up is the titular track, ‘I Love You’, which delves into a love teetering on the edge of obsession. Much like a dysfunctional relationship, it saturates the silence with an incessant chorus of “I love yous.”

‘Salt’, featuring The Grogans, turns up the volume with crisp guitars, powerful drums, and beautiful soft vocals. It’s a standout moment on the album that leaves you hungry for more. ‘AHHHH!’ also features on the album, and it’s easy to see why it became their first notable release – it’s a must-have for any playlist. ‘Lights Out’ packs a punch and showcases the band’s musical versatility, offering a dose of feminine energy with its unapologetic exploration of sex, love and rock and roll.

‘Toe Bone’ adds a touch of sweetness with its adorable love letter theme, bringing a soft and upbeat contrast to the rock feast. ‘Never Saw It Coming’ maintains a softer tone with subtle angsty undertones. As we approach the grand finale, ‘Kissy Kissy’ swoops in with a ’90s indie vibe and the potential for stadium rock sing-alongs. It’s a catchy track that tackles the theme of toxic situationships with a touch of humor.

‘I Love You’ is an album filled with fun, joy, and charm, sprinkled with moments of laughter. It’s a testament to the band’s talent and creativity, and you can bet it will shine even brighter on stage. Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are set to embark on their Australian tour in late October, and it’s bound to be a hit.

Having been making music together since 2015, these four pals are now poised for stardom. Their debut album marks a turning point in their career, and it’s evident that they’re ready to take the music world by storm. With harmonious vocals and a fearless approach to rock, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers are rewriting the rules and carving out their own path in the industry. They are definitely a band to watch, and we love our newest rock crush – Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers!

In conclusion, ‘I Love You’ deserves a solid 9/10 rating for its powerful anthems and heartfelt love songs that leave a lasting impression.
