When you get used to defining genres and all the sub genres within, yes the terms still make sense but you start to lose the understanding of what they meant in the first place, just like saying a word over an over. Listening to Korda Marshall, it’s a great reminder that pop rock was originally a genre mash up that created something great and new, as opposed to what it is today which is something to pander to audiences that don’t know what they want. Korda Marshall know what they’re doing and they’re doing it extremely well.

It’s a great throwback (and not just with the emphasis on nostalgia but bringing it back) to 90’s bands like No Doubt, Letters To Cleo and Veruca Salt with an emphasis on reviving how much fun it was to write, listen to and perform music like this. It’s simple, it’s effective and it’s awesome.

When the modern age bands in this genre are sidestepping their way into a lacklustre position where they aren’t far off fading away, it’s bands like Korda Marshall that are bringing back exactly what we love about this style. If you’re looking to fill the void that has been left from bands that fail to deliver then this is exactly what you need.
